SUMMARY:From Place to Place
DESCRIPTION:David Shepherd : Exhibition of recent work. \nThe images on show are raw on paper\, and relate to David’s sculpture/installation archival process. \nThe inspiration to show a selection of my recent collages interrelated with my photographs and degraded photocopied images comes directly from several visits to spacetocreate. \nspacetocreate’s drop in courses working with both children and adults\, often using collage/construction techniques\, demonstrates a fluidity and simple dynamic that fits in with these aspects of my research. \nI feel very comfortable profiling what is very often a private activity at spacetocreate ! \nDavid Shepherd formerly Head of Media Art and Performance within the BA (Hons) Fine Art Course at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff – now Cardiff Metropolitan University. \nDavid Shepherd was born in Wigan\, Lancashire. Studied at Wigan School of Art and Goldsmiths’ College London. \nHe has shown work in the UK and many venues across the world. \nShepherd works in many mediums but the majority of his work tends to be in time based / sculptural / installation formats\, \n“Shepherd’s work conveys ideas of improvisation – knocking together – fixing up and making do with available materials – the laborious\, repetitive\, sometimes pointless production of an endless process through which we construct our world and thus ourselves.” Carol McKay \nDavid will discuss the work in this show alongside images of previous work\, which is largely of a time based / sculptural / installation format\, at the next meet : cwrdd informal gathering for artists makers and creative practitioners on Friday 8 February. at spacetocreate from 6 – 8pm. \n

SUMMARY:The Great Flood
DESCRIPTION:metalwork – an installation by Tim Williams \nBirds were flying from continent to continent way before we were here. Whales hauled their great souls across the oceans 50 million years ago… Now we have taken over the earth and the sea and the sky. There is so much more out there than what connects to us\, and by glimpsing a non human world\, we are transported.
