In 2015, local artist Pauline Le Britton approached spacetocreate about a need for studio space and from this initial discussion the idea of establishing a town centre studio space in Haverfordwest was born. Good relationships had been built with the Riverside Shopping Centre during the popupwest project in 2012 and they were open to using a meanwhile lease on an empty unit to set up artist studios.
The initial group of 6 artists were: Pauline Le Britton, Heidi Baker, Sharron Harris, penny d jones, Ruth Sargeant and Louise Bird.
As part of our work with Confluence, studio artists were invited to submit ideas for Artsheds a family friendly participatory art project designed in partnership with Haverfordwest Town Council, for Haverfordwest festival week in 2016.
Heidi Baker and Sharron Harris each developed and delivered an arts and regeneration project as part of the Ideas Lab programme and Ruth Sargeant and penny d jones (as part of the Rhod collective) were selected for PLATFORM – 3 days of contemporary art in Haverfordwest.
For Haverfordwest festival week in July 2017 studio artists co-curated Cabinets of Curiosities, a show of new and recent work.
Since January 2018, the ground floor space has been reconfigured to provide bookable meeting room, workshop and exhibition spaces hosting an annual programme of window displays, exhibitions, workshops and events.
Current studio artists are: Sharron Harris, Heidi Baker, Ruth Sargeant, Lizzie Waterhouse, Emma Gooding, Daniel Settatree and Jess John.
