Guy went to Helsby Grammar School for Boys from 1972-79 leaving with 8 O levels and 4 A levels prior to studying English and Drama at the University of Hull, gaining a Joint Honours Degree in 1982.
A life-changing year, volunteering full-time with Community Service Volunteers in Ely Hospital Cardiff, led to a 25 year community development career, working to develop services for people with profound learning disabilities and then, over the last 19 years, working in Pembrokeshire to develop the voluntary sector:
- initially as the county mental health development worker
- latterly as the Assistant Director of Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services: building a successful and creative organisation; developing and managing partnerships with the voluntary, public and private sectors; establishing grant schemes and taking a lead with European funding
Throughout this time Guy continued to create his own art work, which he has exhibited in solo and joint exhibitions in Cardiff, Milford Haven and Haverfordwest.
In 2007 Guy established spacetocreate community arts and currently works as a freelance community artist, trainer and consultant.
